Strengthening ISPT's capacity for the provision of competent professionals for the mining sector
Challenge: The challenge is to strengthen the institutional capacity of ISPT, in order to provide well qualified engineers (polytech level) for the Mozambican mining sector.  More specifically, key issues of ISPT are: to promote research and innovative business activities, with a gender perspective; to improve its organisational capacity to develop and deliver high quality polytechnic education for the mining engineering, and to strengthen the qualifications of lecturers, researchers and support staff. In addition, ISPT requires support for the revision and/or development of course curricula and materials, according to the national requirements for the mining sector and to enhance its capacity to provide internships and professional practices.

Our solution: To capacitate teaching and research staff by means of on the job training and by offering formal degree programs in the field of mining (Witwatersrand) and by introducing new methods of teaching (CBET, I learning). Furthermore, entrepreneurship will be boosted by means of further strengthening of the incubation unit of the institute. Cross cutting is the relation to the labour market, in particular the mining industry in the province of Tete and beyond.
